Story & process

Photographed by Jenny Brandt in 2010, in Southern Sweden.
A chance encounter: a four-year-old girl, a road, a badger. The scene builds itself — stripes echo across the frame, from the animal’s head to the markings on the road, to the streak on the girl’s arm.
Her ruby slippers catch the eye in an otherwise muted palette. A vintage ballerina tutu slips from her shoulder — innocence and gravity in one frame.
Girl and Badger invites the viewer into a space between life and death, childhood and knowing. A quiet image that lingers.
